Campus COVID-19 Information
Like many senior care communities across New York State, we’re taking Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) threats very seriously. We are taking every precaution we can to protect our residents, staff, and families from this dangerous respiratory illness now and in the future.
Our clinical team continues to monitor state and national news updates regarding the Novel Coronavirus infection. Currently, the Centers for Disease and Control (CDC) recommend the same general strategies to prevent the transmission of the Novel Coronavirus as with any respiratory illness like Influenza, Common Cold, and others. By following these government guidelines as well as taking our own precautionary measures, we’re proud to say that our incidents of illnesses in the past have been very limited. Some of our measures include but are not limited to:
- Thorough hand washing, use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers, respiratory etiquette, and avoiding unnecessary contact with sick individuals off-campus.
- Avoiding any excessive touching of eyes, face, nose, or mouth on and off-campus.
- Use of our Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as gloves, gowns, masks, and other infection control utilities.
- Enforcing our No Visitation Policy as well as keeping an up-to-date log of staff in and out of the building with proper dates and times to monitor for symptoms. This includes temperature checks before every shift begins.
Community Hygiene Basics
As a reminder to our staff and community, please be mindful of the following both on campus and among the general public:
- Stay home when you are sick or showing signs of sickness including but not limited to fever, shortness of breath, cough, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat, nausea, vomiting, and/or diarrhea.
- Wash your hands frequently with warm, soapy water for at least 20 seconds when soiled or when you come in contact with the general public whose health conditions you do not know.
- Cover your mouth with tissues whenever you sneeze and discard the tissues after each use. Reusable handkerchiefs should be avoided.
- Avoid people exhibiting the symptoms above. Seek immediate medical attention if you or others experience these symptoms.
- Clean frequently touched personal spaces as well as devices such as cell phones, pagers, keys, and other items left exposed in public spaces.
We are committed to maintaining transparency with our residents, families, and community regarding COVID-19 status on our campus. We will continue to update this page as new information is received or released. We thank you for your cooperation during this challenging situation.
