Testing Clarification and COVID-19 Update (HP)

As a follow up to communication you received on October 3 regarding a Hultquist Place Assisted Living Program employee testing positive for the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), please know that our employee continues to isolate at home and remains asymptomatic. Thankfully there have been no known COVID-19 positive residents at Hultquist Place as of this writing. We continue to screen our employees for COVID-19 symptoms on a daily basis and we are still testing employees on a weekly basis which is how we identify and remove infected persons from our workforce so quickly.

That being said, we are hopeful that our in-person visitation will resume on Monday, October 19, barring any future setbacks. We will observe the same time schedule that we did previously. To schedule a tentative appointment for after October 19, please call 716-720-9610. This is the same number you may use to arrange window calls and video chats as well.

One last thing we feel the need to share is that we’re approaching the beginning of flu season. This can and will add another layer of complication when trying to identify COVID-19 infected persons. We’ve included a simple chart that explains the basics and differences between the common cold, influenza, allergies, and COVID-19. This chart is meant to serve as a general guide and does not replace the importance of speaking with your physician or seeking medical treatment if you are ill.

Over 210,000 Americans have lost their life to COVID-19 since late February and over 7 million have contracted the virus, with or without symptoms. We’re still four months away from the year mark although it seems like we’ve been living this nightmare for much longer. We urge you to continue to wear a mask, wash your hands, remain socially distanced, and stay home if you are sick. It is the very least we can do for ourselves, our loved ones, and our community.

Please remember that we update our 24/7 hotline with up-to-date information on campus news related to COVID-19. In the event of another positive staff member or resident infection, our visitation pause will continue. You will receive communications via email or phone message. Thank you for your support and for placing your trust in us.
